Superstar Shah Rukh Khan paid tribute to late actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, popularly known as the “Showman”, on his reality TV show India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun?. Years back, Raj Kapoor narrated the life of a joker in a circus through his popular movie Mera Naam Joker, hinging on “The show must go on” notion.
It was when SRK saw one of the contestants from Delhi with a joker’s nose that he trailed back to the golden era of cinema, dominated by the likes of Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand. The ‘nose’ reminded Shah Rukh of late Raj Kapoor’s iconic character from movie Mera Naam Joker, which released in 1970.
