HOUSTON: The Consulate General of India, Houston celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with a vibrant Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the Chancery premises.
Members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India joined the event with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The program began with the recital of National Song Vande Mataram, followed by the flag hoisting, National Anthem, and remarks by distinguished guests.
The ceremony also featured patriotic songs, an exhibition of specially commissioned paintings on the Viksit Bharat 2047 theme, and recognition of winners of the Bharat Ko Janiye (BKJ) Quiz
Hoisting the National Flag, Consul General D. C. Manjunath read out the address of Hon’ble President of India delivered to the Nation on the eve of 80th Independence Day. He thanked all attendees for their continued commitment to India and encouraged everyone to actively participate
Dignitaries included Chancellor of University of Houston Dr. Renu Khator, Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong, Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones, Fort Bend Commissioner Dexter McCoy, Sugarland City Council member Sanjay Singhal, Regional Director for U.S. Senator John Cornyn Jay Guerrero , Judge Juli Mathew, Judge Surendran Pattel, and other senior officials representing Harris County, Fort Bend County and the City of Houston.
