    PEARLAND: Seva Clinic in Pearland, a charity medical clinic observed Health Promotion Day on Saturday October 21, administering free Flu shots and Tetanus shots.

    Seva clinic is a recent addition to the Pearland and is a free medical clinic for people in need. Recently lab services are added, and pediatric services are provided every second Thursday of each month in the same times. A community pharmacy has teamed up to provide free or inexpensive medications. Volunteer medical personnel run this clinic provide mainly  primary care. Patients with medical emergencies, trauma and complex medical problems should go to the nearest Hospital.

    The Seva Clinic emphasizes prevention and keeping our community healthy and avoid expensive hospital visits by addressing basic medical care. In line with its core mission on Saturday, October 21, 2017, Seva Clinic observed Health Promotion day and administered free flu and tetanus shots to the Pearland community at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Hall at W. Walnut St, Pearland.  Mayor Reid of Pearland and Memorial Herman South east CEO Kyle Price gave opening remarks.  Dr. P. Vaduganathan thanked  the Seva Clinic members, Memorial Hermann South east hospital for getting us the Flu shots, Nurses and members from Brazoria County Health department for administering the Tetanus shots, and nursing students from San Jacinto school of nursing, Robert Turner High School students, UH College of Pharmacy students  who enthusiastically participated in the event.

    The clinic is open every Thursday between 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm. The address is: 2335 N Texas Avenue, Pearland, TX 77581 and is located at the intersection of the Rail road track and Broadway.

    ROSHARON, TX: The Cambodian community arrived in 1980s to the area in Rosharon, TX south of Alvin and is a tight knit community and derives their livelihood by growing plants like water spinach and other greens. This community of about 300 families has been devastated by Hurricane Harvey and most of their homes had 4 ft of water inside and lost most of their home and belongings. The community is now trying to recover.

    Francis Marion of American Freedom Keepers started some relief work and created a command center inside the Buddhist temple Hall. Bill and Donna Lutz of Red Cross Team 4 Hot shot and volunteers from Sewa International led by Achalesh Amar went in the last few days to provide overall help. They soon realized there is a need for a medical team since many who are still inside their damp homes are having respiratory symptoms.

    Seva Clinc of Pearland came forward to organize the Medical camp in a short notice.  Dr. Radha Rao took the lead on this effort. The Medical directors Dr. Subhadra Bandhakavi, Dr, Deepa Iyengar and Dr. P. Vaduganathan approved to pay for the cost of the medications from Seva Clinic.

    The physicians who volunteered are: Radha Rao, Bindhu Akanti, Sara Waters, Hema Salvady, Suma Manjunath, Visalakshi Batchu, Keyuri Popat, Subhadra Bandhakavi, Deepa Iyengar and P. Vaduganathan. Pharmacy techs Keiva Rosales and Kimberly Brew from Affinity pharmacy were also in the camp to help fill the prescriptions at a low cost.

    About 30 patients were seen over a 6 hour period ( 9 am to 3 pm) and most of  the patients had respiratory problems from mould and dampness.  There were also patients with stroke, uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension and skin rash.

    Seva clinic physicians are planning to return next Saturday September 16th from 9 am to 2 pm. Seva Clinic Chairman Dr. Vaduganathan thanked Dr. Radha Rao the lead, all the other physicians, Sewa International, Redcross Team 4 Hot shot and Francis Marion for making this medical camp possible.

    HOUSTON: Honorable congressman Mr. Pete Olson visited Seva Clinic in Pearland at 5.30 pm on Monday, June 5th, 2017. He presented a Certificate of Congressional Recognition to Dr. P. Vaduganathan who organized the clinic. This is the first charity clinic in Pearland.

    About 25 people attended the brief event, which included Honorable Mayor Tom Reid, board members, doctors, nurses of the Seva Clinic and leadership team from Memorial Hermann Southeast.

    The clinic which was inaugurated on June 1st, 2017 is a general medical clinic and is open every Thursday between 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm for the people in need in the Pearland area.

    The clinic is located in the building of Pearland Neighborhood Center, 2335 N. Texas Ave, Pearland, TX 77581. The clinic is staffed by volunteer physicians and nurses.

    Honorable congressman Olson commended all the medical professionals and volunteers who selflessly volunteer their time and effort to serve the community.

    PEARLAND: The Pearland area physicians are starting a charity, primary care medical clinic, the “SEVA CLINIC”. ‘Seva’ is selfless service in Sanskrit. The clinic is setup as a ‘Texas Not for Profit’ entity with 501C(3) tax-exempt status designation by the I.R.S., and will serve the people in need in the Pearland area.

    The founding chairman of the SEVA CLINIC, Dr. P. Vaduganathan (aka, Dr. Nathan) is the Medical Director who has been affiliated with Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital for over 20 years. Assisting Medical Directors of SEVA CLINIC are Dr. Subhadra Bandhakavi, also affiliated with Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital and Dr. Deepa Iyengar, of the University of Texas Physicians Family Medicine. Joanne Barrett, Chief Clinical Officer at Kindred Hospital, will be the Nursing Director for the clinic. Dr. Deepa Iyengar would bring in physicians from “Pragathi”, another nonprofit entity to help in the clinic.

    Additionally, several physicians have signed up to volunteer their time in this clinic. Dr. Rekha Neela, Dr. Suma Manjunath, Dr. Dhathri Kodali, Dr. Vijaya Kaila, Dr. Keyuri Popat, Dr. Sibtain Ali, Dr. Hema Salvady, Dr. Radha Rao, Dr. Ramesh Patel, Dr. Arun Mukhopadyay, Dr. Venugopal Menon, Dr. Kris Chandra, Dr. Siva Bodogala and many others have offered to donate such service. Serving as Directors on the Board would be Pearland Mayor Tom Reid, James Dickson, Hita Dickson, Jerry Farmer, S.G. Appan and Srikanth Venugopalan.

    The inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday May 20, 2017 at the Pearland Neighborhood Center. About 125 people enthusiastically attended in the event. Besides several physicians and nurses, the board members of the Pearland Neighborhood Center (PNC) and city officials were the proud participants. Ms. Carol Artz-Bucek, CEO of Pearland Chamber of Commerce, Buck Stevens of Pearland Arts League, Mr. Brad Christen, President of PNC, along with Board members Anna Bryant, Naomi Stevens, Linda Darnel and Becky Cornelius, as well as Mr. Roy Castillo, Pearland Police Sergeant were in attendance.

    Leading officials of Memorial Hermann Southeast and Pearland Hospitals, Mr. Kyle Price and Mr. Mario Garner, Chief Operating officers, Mrs. Kelly Ochoa, Chief Nursing Officer and Ms. Rebecca Lilley, Physician liaison, were present.
    Honorable Mayor Tom Reid made the declaration that May 20, 2017 be proclaimed “the Seva Clinic Day” and The Pearland Chamber of Commerce officials organized the beautiful ribbon cutting ceremony.

    Dr. Vaduganathan expressed that the physicians are humbled by the overwhelming support from the community and explained how the clinic will be functioning.

    The medical services will be free for patients but a donation of $10 per visit would be welcome and be used to cover some of the overhead expenses.

    Beginning June 1, 2017 The SEVA CLINIC will be open every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It is located in the building of the Pearland Neighborhood Center, 2335 N. Texas Avenue, Pearland, TX 77581.
