HYDERABAD: Leading hematologists, researchers, and pediatric specialists from around the globe will converge at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre next month for the GANSID Congress 2026. Organized by the Global Action Network for Sickle Cell and Other Inherited Blood Disorders, the three-day international summit running October 23–25 aims to showcase frontline clinical breakthroughs and tackle complex hematologic challenges.
Among the headline presenters is Dr. Aditi Kamdar, a distinguished pediatric hematologist from Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kamdar is scheduled to deliver a clinical briefing on October 24 titled “The Clot Thickens: Recurrent Pulmonary Embolism in a Patient with Sickle Cell Disease and Acute Chest Syndrome.”
Her talk addresses the perilous overlap between acute chest crises and severe clotting. Dr. Kamdar currently serves as the Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology-Oncology, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Her team at the Texas Children’s Hospital works closely with other leading experts throughout Texas Children’s Hospital to optimize care of patients with bleeding and clotting disorders. These collaborative efforts include advanced interventional technologies to treat complicated cases of thrombosis and life-threatening bleeding.
In addition, Dr. Kamdar is taking care of really sick children. She and her husband Dr Mudit Gilotra spent a year in Ethiopia helping the poorest of the poor, hundreds of miles from the nearest hospital.
