H-1B Workers Targeted in Phone Scam from Phony USCIS Agents

In a latest scam targeting the Indian American community, temporary foreign workers from India and elsewhere are receiving calls from scammers pretending to be agents of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, who then demand thousands of dollars for alleged discrepancies in their processed visas.

Alarmingly, the calls are coming from 911, an emergency service number. More alarmingly, the callers already have a great deal of information about their intended victims, including passport and visa control numbers and dates of expiration….
