HOUSTON: Arya Samaj of Greater Houston presented a $100,000 contribution to Sewa International’s Nepal Flood Relief efforts on Sunday, October 18, marking a major milestone in the Houston community’s response to the devastating floods in Nepal.
Through the generosity of 146 donors, the Arya Samaj community raised a total of $174,000, demonstrating an extraordinary outpouring of compassion and support for families impacted by the disaster.
“Since Sewa’s community update call on September 2, when the team on the ground in Nepal shared live footage of the devastation and provided firsthand updates, we knew we had to help as much as we could,” said Devender Mahajan of Arya Samaj of Greater Houston. “Little did we know that our community would respond with such open hearts and generosity, helping us raise a total of $174,000. We donated $ 100,000 to Sewa and $ 74,000 to Delhi Arya Prathinidhi Sabha for their Nepal relief efforts”
Representing Arya Samaj of Greater Houston were Devender Mahajan, Ashutosh Garg and Sanjay Jain, along with members of the congregation.
The $100,000 contribution was received on behalf of Sewa International by Dr. Pranav Loyalka, President, Sewa Houston; Nikhil Jain, Vice President, Marketing & Fund Development, Sewa International USA; Narendra Zamwar, Associate Director, Family Services; and Pranav Patankar, Youth Coordinator, Sewa Houston.
Sewa expressed its deep gratitude to Arya Samaj of Greater Houston, all 146 donors, volunteers and community members whose generosity made the effort possible.
The contribution will support Sewa’s ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts for families and communities affected by the Nepal floods. Sewa volunteers and teams continue to work both on the ground and behind the scenes to provide assistance and help communities move toward recovery. An update on relief work in Nepal, received from the ground, was provided by Sewa to the community members present during this ceremony.
“This milestone is about much more than fundraising,” Nikhil Jain of Sewa said. “Every contribution represents hope, every act of kindness brings families closer to recovery, and every helping hand makes a difference. These efforts would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of our ASGH team. I would especially like to express my sincere appreciation to Bhushan Verma, Anil Gupta, Sushma Mahajan, Ashutosh Garg, and Sanjay Jain. Their commitment, cooperation, and efforts made this campaign a tremendous success.”
Sewa International thanked its volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners for their continued commitment to Nepal. Details available at – https://sewausa.org/NepalFlashFloodRelief
